The Third Billion Campaign aims to unite governments, NGOs, corporations, youth and others to ensure women have access to the resources necessary to reach their full economic potential.
The Third Billion
Over the next decade, the impact of women on the global economy - as producers, entrepreneurs, employees and consumers - will be at least as significant as that of China's and India's, respective, one-billion-plus populations, if not greater. In other words: if women's economical potential can be successfully harnessed and leveraged, it would be the equivalent of having an additional one billion individuals in the work force, contributing to the global economy: often referred to as the "third billion."
La Pietra Coalition is proud to launch the Third Billion Campaign, which will properly prepare and enable women, in both developing, emerging and industrialized nations, - whose economic lives have been stunted, under leveraged or suppressed - to participate in the global economy.
La Pietra Coalition sees this campaign as this generation's great opportunity. And it is La Pietra's hope that over the next five years, this global campaign will unite governments, NGOs, corporations, youth and others - to partner with La Pietra Coalition's goals of ensuring women's access to: legal protection, education and training, finance and markets.
